Fixed the Ontario surtax second threshold to the 2026 $7,446 (it was 2025's $7,307). • : Built on 2026 rates: federal 14% to $58,523, CPP 5.95% to $74,600, CPP2 4% to $85,000 and EI 1.63% to $68,900.

Estimates use 2026 Federal and Ontario tax, CPP/CPP2, and EI rules. They do not model other provinces, pension contributions from your own salary, stock, benefits, overtime, a bonus paid differently from salary, or your individual tax credits. Confirm the employment contract and pay details before deciding.

Compare Ontario job offers after tax

For an Ontario offer, compare the money you can use, not just the number printed beside base salary. Federal tax, Ontario tax, CPP, CPP2, EI, a commute, and an uncertain bonus all change the decision. An employer RRSP match has real value too, but it belongs in retirement savings rather than your monthly budget.

Use the verdict to identify the better financial starting point, then check written bonus terms, pension eligibility, remote-work expectations, equity, benefits, and promotion prospects before accepting or countering.

Ontario job offer comparison FAQs

1

How do I compare two job offers in Ontario fairly?

Start with fixed base salary, then compare estimated after-tax cash, realistic bonus value, employer RRSP match, and recurring commute cost. The offer with the largest gross salary is not always the one that leaves more money after deductions and work costs.

2

Does this Canada offer comparison include Ontario tax and CPP?

Yes. It uses the 2026 Federal and Ontario tax engine, including the Ontario surtax and Health Premium, CPP, CPP2, and EI. It is deliberately Ontario-specific. Provincial tax and payroll deductions differ elsewhere in Canada.

3

How should I value an employer RRSP match?

An employer RRSP match is additional compensation, but it is not cash you can spend immediately. This calculator shows it separately and adds it to total reward, so you can decide whether the long-term value outweighs a lower cash salary.

4

Should I count a target bonus as guaranteed income?

No. Enter the target bonus and set the confidence level you think will actually pay. A contractual formula with a consistent history deserves more confidence than a discretionary bonus with no written criteria.

5

Why does this comparison look different from my offer letter or paycheque?

The result is an annualised estimate. Your actual payroll can differ because of personal TD1 credits, pension or RRSP deductions, benefits, overtime, stock, a bonus paid separately, payroll rounding, or CPP and EI limits reached during the year.

6

Can I use this for Quebec, British Columbia, or Alberta?

No. The Federal portion is informative, but provincial tax, credits, premiums, and payroll rules differ. Use an Ontario result only for an Ontario employment and residence comparison.
