Senior Software Engineer Market Demand in Australia
Hiring outlook, remote working rates, and which companies are actively recruiting.
Senior Software Engineer hiring in Australia is concentrated in Sydney and Melbourne, where Atlassian and Canva continue to expand their engineering headcount alongside Commonwealth Bank's and NAB's multi-year core banking modernisation programmes. Senior engineers who can own system design end to end are the hardest hires to fill locally, and employers routinely turn to the Temporary Skill Shortage visa to bring in experienced candidates from the UK, Ireland, and India when the domestic pipeline runs dry.
