Demand is stable and durable rather than growing fast. The Irish financial services sector, which is one of the largest employers of developers in the country, runs predominantly on Java. This creates a reliable base of demand that is not sensitive to the same cycles as consumer tech hiring. Java developers with Spring Boot and microservices experience are consistently in demand at these employers.
Fidelity Investments, State Street, and Citi are among the largest Java employers in Dublin, all running significant Java engineering operations. Bank of Ireland and AIB hire Java engineers for their technology transformation programmes. Accenture and IBM hire Java engineers for client delivery.
