Among mid-market companies, Zendesk and Salesforce are competitive. The widest gap in Ireland is between Big Tech and the IT services firms, where Senior DevOps salaries often sit €25 to €35k below market.

Kubernetes expertise commands the highest premium at around 18%. ArgoCD and GitOps experience, Terraform proficiency, and AWS or GCP certifications follow. Engineers who have implemented GitOps workflows at production scale are in consistently strong demand.

The honest signal is yes. Every infrastructure-heavy function, from cloud migration to security hardening to AI model deployment, requires DevOps expertise as a dependency. The risk is commoditisation at the junior level as AI-assisted infrastructure tooling improves. Engineers who invest in the architectural layer, designing platforms rather than just running pipelines, will be better positioned.
