The typical next step is IT Project Manager or Scrum Master, usually after 2 to 3 years and often paired with a PMP or CSM certification. Some coordinators move sideways into business analysis if they enjoy the requirements side more than the scheduling side.
It is not required to get hired, but it noticeably speeds up promotion into a full Project Manager role, and several GCCs in Manila and Cebu subsidize the certification after a coordinator's first year.
