What is the most tax-efficient way to take profit out of a limited company in 2026/27?
For most single-director companies: a salary of £12,570, then employer pension contributions into a SIPP if you don't need all the cash now, then dividends. The salary uses your personal allowance and is deductible for Corporation Tax. Employer pension contributions are deductible and escape both income tax and dividend tax. Dividends are taxed at 10.75% in the basic band and 35.75% in the higher band from April 2026, after a £500 allowance, on top of Corporation Tax already paid. The calculator above compares the three routes for your own profit.
